Drupal

Updates...

Site

I've just updated the website to the latest version of Drupal (6.17). It has been out for over a week but I just can't seem to find and or make time... So as of yet I'm still searching a way to make this a usefull place, even if only for me...

National soccer team

The Dutch National soccer team just won their first match of the 2010 World Cup. They played against Denmark and managed to score 2 goals (2-0). My eployer was kind enough to let us watch the match during our work time, so yeah!

Drupal Jam 2010

I was at the Drupal Jam 2010 and I'm glad I attended.

Drupalgardens

At forehand I had looked through the program and saw a couple of subjects I wanted to hear about and some not so much. I really enjoyed the drupalgardens presentation, it has the potential to change the way we work with Drupal. Or it at least holds the potential to enrich the workflow.

Personal themes in Drupal as a tool for theming

I found myself in a situation where I needed to do some editing to my theme but did not want them to be publicly visible yet. Normally I would create a copy of my site on a localhost and work / test from there. But what if the adjustments are small and you just want to be safe... I stumbled upon the fact that, if configured right, a user can set his or her personal theme for viewing the site. So why not enable your new theme and set it as your viewing theme to check your theme. It can be done in a few easy steps:

First theme draft!

I had some time on my hands and just started throwing something together and I'm more than happy with the result so far!

The theme is far from done or perfect, but it IS getting there... I will be making adjustments in the upcoming days, weeks.

The cool part for me is that I decided not to do the "ZEN feeling" this time and just start from a static site which was a working xHTML/CSS mock up. From mock up to Drupal took me about an hour tops.

Well time to go sit in some traffic ;)

Drupal theming, the ZEN feeling...

So as I mentioned in my previous and first post on this site I have a start up plan for this site. I want to record my exploration of Drupal and all my web related journeys I venture on.

The first step in my grand plan is creating a base theme for this website. As I've seen so far there are three ways to taking on the task of creating a theme for Drupal. You can either create a theme from scratch, copy and hack an existing theme or you can sub-theme an existing theme.
